March 7 at the Brooklyn Conservatory
and March 10 at Merkin Hall, "A Celebration of the
Voice" - the Brooklyn Conservatory New Music
Collective collaborates with the Washington Square
Contemporary Music Society on a concert of vocal
music, including Michael Rose's song "Der Panther,"
world premieres by Peter Susser and Steven Burke, and
the New York premiere of elliott carter's "La
Musique" sung by Lucy Shelton. Also on the concert
are works by Tom Cipullo, John Eaton, Steven Ebel,
Louis Karchin, and more Elliott Carter.
May 15 at Roulette, Juho Laitinen premieres "Year Zero" for solo cello, along with works by Kaija Saariaho, Jean Sibelius, Jukka Tiensuu, and Tania Leon.

New Pierson audio featured in Belfast, Northern Ireland

In March 2008, the Naughton Gallery of
Queens University, Belfast, Northern Ireland,
will launch a long-term interactive exhibit that
includes audio by Kala Pierson (commissioned
with funds from the U.K.'s National Endowment for
Science, Technology and the Arts.
Ficklin and the New Dramatists

Edward Ficklin
will be the second member of the South Oxford Six to
take part in New Dramatists' Composer-Librettist
Studio. The Studio, presented in cooperation with
Nautilus Music-Theater, is designed to provide an
opportunity for five writers and five composers to
work with professional performers, exploring the
possibilities and basic elements of music-theater.
The studio focuses on the process of collaboration
through a series of brief exploratory assignments for
the writers and composers. Fellow SO6er
Aleksandra Vrebalov also participated in the Studio
in 2004.
New Vrebalov quartet slated for Carnegie Hall premiere

Aleksandra
Vrebalov's string quartet ...hold me,
neighbor, in this storm... co-commissioned by the
Carnegie Hall Corporation for Kronos Quartet will be
premiered on February 22 in Zankel Hall by the
Kronos Quartet.
